Cincinnati, Ohio 1966-7 The Checkmates were a popular band around the Cincinnati area in 1966/7. Famed local performer/writer/operator Kenny Smith, wrote a couple songs that the band recorded for a 45 that was released in August of 1967. The songs are soulish garage style.
