The Chimes (AKA "The Champs" in Tony Allen & The Champs) were Specialty's "house" group, consisting of Charles Jackson, David Cobb, Pookie Whooten, and John Talbert (per Tony Allen) or possibly Jackson, Cobb, Horace Whooten, and Booker Jones (per Disc-File). The Chimes had two releases of their own on Specialty (1955-56).
