Album AU 1931 on Parlophone label
Jazz and Pop
Side B is wrongly credited to Louis Armstrong & His Orchestra. It seems that this release DID intend to use the version of "Body And Soul" by Louis Armstrong but there was a mistake in the factory and the wrong metal master was pulled. It's easy to see how such a mistake could have been made as the matrix # of the Louis Armstrong version is W 404411 and the matrix # of the Fred Rich version of the same song is W 404471 (only one digit is different and the "7" in the Fred Rich version could easily have been read as "1"). Strangely, despite this mistake the record was not withdrawn from sale quickly but continued to be listed in the catalogue and was available for many years (there is even a later repress). First pressing with stroboscope label.
