Formerly Imperial Quartet, became the Commodores when they decided to shift from the gospel to popular music in 1955-56. The members were: Charles Speed (tenor vocals), Homer Tankersly, Jr. (tenor vocals), Darrell Glenn (lead vocals), Floyd Gray (Bass vocals), David Reece (Pianist), and Cecil Pollock (Pianist).
