The Conqueroo were an American psychedelic-garage group, based in Austin, TX. They were active from 1965-70. The Conqueroo line-up consisted of: Charlie Prichard (lead guitar and vocals), Ed Guinn (2) (bass, keyboards, woodwind, vocals), Tom Bright (drums), Bob Brown (14) (rhythm guitar and vocals). St John and the Conqueroo (as they were originally known) was initially led by singer/guitarist and songwriter Powell St. John, however he left before the band took off and was replaced in October 1966 by rhythm guitarist and vocalist Bob Brown (14). By the end of the 1967, Tom Bright had been replaced by Daryl Rutherford, who was replaced in 1968 by Gerry Storm, formerly of the jazz group The Blue Crew. In June 1968, they relocated to San Francisco, CA, where Alvin Sykes became their new drummer.. After cutting a few tracks which were not released, the band (minus Charlie Prichard) returned to Austin where they soon evolved into Texoid.
