A.k.a. The Boleros The Gliders (3) The Ivorytones
Rhythm 'n' blues vocal group Members were: Jimmy Breedlove, Ollie Jones, Eddie Barnes, Robie Kirk (an alias of Winfield Scott), Abel Da Costa (1929-1985) Pianist and arranger at Atlantic, Jesse Stone brought the group to the label to fill the backing vocal needs of the label's recordings of stars. With each star they recorded, The Cues were adopting a different name: For LaVern Baker they became The Gliders (3). For Ivory Joe Hunter they became The Ivorytones. For Carmen Taylor they became The Boleros. For Joe Turner they became Joe Turner & His Blues Kings. The irony is that they never recorded at Atlantic as a main act.
