Band, *1957 NL, Amsterdam
Jazz
Famous hard bop band from the Netherlands. Founded by Cees Slinger in 1957 as the resident band of jazz club Sheherazade in Amsterdam. Originally Dick van der Capellen played bass, when the band took over the club in 1958 and van der Capellen could not join after a car accident, Jacques Schols stepped in. The group split in 1964, when pop music became more popular than jazz music.
