According to Chris Ballew: "The Dukes O' Pop was a band that formed in 1987 to record songs by all of the members in a collective type of arrangement. Whoever was on hand for recording would contribute to the song of the day. The band included Phil Franklin who was also in EGG and Asleep Standing (my band in college) and Dave Dederer (future Presidents guitbass) and Dave Thiele (old friend in most bands before the Presidents)."
