Dutch guitar combo the Elements from Amersfoort Bert Labrie, Henk Leusink and Hans Beenhakker in 1961 looked for a bassplayer and found Jack Smulders. By 1967 during the recording of their first single, in the meantime having grown into a psychedelic popquartet were now Jack Smulders (bass guitar) and John Brands (lead vocals, guitar), both originally together in Scolding Firebirds. They were completed with Mels Punt (guitar) and Willem Amarosia (drums, on their first single), replaced by Henk van der Brom (drums), On the second single Ilja Gort had taken over on drums . John Brands went to Zen (singing their biggest number 1 hit "Hair",) en then in 1968 he started working for music-publisher Altona evolving into big publishing company Strengholt for which he became the main managing director. Jack Smulders started in the Revellers, and he went to Hamlet afterward. Drummer Ilja Gort then joined After Tea.
