Band,
Rock
A seamless marriage of manic ferocity and indescribable density, THE END craft startlingly intense, memorable songs that demand repeated listening. Formed in the early spring of 1999, Canadian quintet THE END (Aaron Wolff - vocals / Steve Watson - guitar / Andrew Hercules - guitar / Sean Dooley - bass / Anthony Salajko - drums) formed and immediately began writing material. With the simple intention of making good music, the band had wrote their first four songs which were released as an untitled demo in May of '99. THE END began performing live in the southern Ontario hardcore / punk rock scenes, and, in September of '99, after gaining immediate recognition for what has been called "one of the most intense live shows ever" the band set out on their first tour. The two-week stint along the East Coast of the U.S., established a following of loyal THE END fans -- a following which would continuously expand, becoming an empire in the coming year and a half. THE END returned from the road and used the time to further their live performance and experience while fine tuning their complex, rhythm driven sound. After receiving offers from respected labels, the band decided to stay as relatively independent as possible and released their first CD recording on the Ontario label, Re-define Records. "Transfer Trachea Reverberations from Point: False Omniscient" was THE END's first full release, and one which indeed pushed the limits of "rock" music. Impressed by what they heard on "Transfer Trachea Reverberations from Point: False Omniscient," Relapse Records reissued the debut (which, by this time had sold through its initial pressings). "Transfer Trachea..." caught music fans and press off guard, THE END widening many an eye to their take on "extreme music." The EP was named one of the "10 Essential Mathcore Albums" of all time by noted UK monthly Metal Hammer, appearing amongst an impressive list that contained releases from, among others, CONVERGE, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN and THE LOCUST. The album then garnered the honor of being named the 2001 'Metal Album of the Year' by The Canadian Independent Music Awards. With a strong foundation in place, the quintet looked to the future as it began writing and rehearsing new material - the body of work that would comprise its first proper Relapse full-length, 'Within Dividia.' Recorded at Wild Studios with producer Pierre Remillard (CRYPTOPSY, MISERY INDEX, GORGUTS), 'Within Dividia' sees THE END ambitiously employing a film noir atmosphere set to music. 'Within Dividia' is a Pandora's box of sound and sight that narrates the conceptual tale of "The Dividia Estate" and its eerily compelling inhabitants. Immediately following the recording of 'Within Dividia,' THE END set forth on a month-long North American tour alongside BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME and A LIFE ONCE LOST. The tour kicked off with a performance as part of the 2003 Relapse Records CMJ showcase and included an appearance at the 2003 New Jersey Metal and Hardcore Festival. THE END continued their massive 'Within Dividia' touring campaign through 2004 and into 2005 with globe spanning dates. 2004 tours included being apart of the Exclaim! Magazine Aggressive Tendencies Tour with CURSED as well as teaming up with HIGH ON FIRE, DYING FETUS, PREMONITIONS OF WAR and more throughout the year. The first half of 2005 saw THE END rounding out their touring cycle for 'Within Dividia' with North American tours with DEAD TO THE FALL, INTO THE MOAT, THE RED DEATH and more. THE END then took the next year and a half off to focus solely on constructing ideas for their monumental and jaw-dropping new record, 'Elementary'. That year and a half led to THE END growing exponentially and finding its own unique voice; balancing world-class musicianship with fiery songs. THE END unleashed 'Elementary' in February of 2007, touring non-stop behind its release. In the past four months, THE END have shared stages with the likes of CANCER BATS, POISION THE WELL, PSYOPUS, BLEEDING THROUGH, FEAR BEFORE THE MARCH OF FLAMES, and more all across North America. The band is currently continuing on their touring in support of 'Elementary' in Canada and the States with plans for a European tour before the summer's end.
