"Completed In June 2002, Urbis is situated in Manchester's Cathedral Gardens, in the city's new Millennium Quarter. It houses an exhibition designed to '...tell the "peoples story" of cities and uses leading-edge technology to dramatize the most far-reaching and significant experience in human history, urbanization'. The exhibition is designed to take you on a journey, exploring life in different cities across the world, and also to inform the visitor about the development of the city of Manchester over the past 200 years. The exhibition was created for Urbis by the UK exhibition designers At Large, Land Design Studio and Event Communications and is currently run by the 2002 Urban Experience Ltd. The £30m construction and development of Urbis is managed by Manchester City Council Special Projects Team. Urbis receives its funding, as part of the £42m 'Manchester Millennium Quarter', from the Millennium Commission, the European Regional Development Fund, Manchester City Council and the Department of Local Government, and transport. These recordings were taken during a visit subsequent to having worked producing and installing a number of the interactive exhibits within Urbis."
