The Freeze Band was a mainstay in the Phoenix music scene from 1977 to 1983. The band started out as the Mongo Band in 1974 playing Grateful Dead music at the Library. The lineups shifted over the years until 1977 when the band changed to the Freeze Band and began recording. During the late 70's the band played at such clubs as Hammerheads, Blue Goat Pub, Dooleys, The Stash Box. After landing a spot on Arizona Sounds Vol. 2 & 3, the band was picked up by a California production company that moved them to Orange County where they changed their name to Music By Numbers. When Tom & Kim left the group, they were replaced by Drummer Bryan Rosen and guitarist, vocalist Mark Wood.The band toured Southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado in the early 80's until the bands breakup in 1988
