Band,
Musician of Alternative
A.k.a. The Front
Started in San Diego CA's Coronado Island by guitarist Morgan Smith (brother of Dream Syndicate bassist and Opal frontwoman Kendra Smith) and Mark Baez, they soon recruited Personal Conflict and Men Of Clay drummer Dan Mehlos, and bass player Kevin Chanel (brother and cousin of members of Chula Vista's The Zeros). This lineup lasted through the recording of their three releases: 1984's "Gangland" cassette, 1985's "Man, You Gotta Move", and 1987's "La Bete Humaine." After this last album, Smith left the group and The Front continued as a three-piece, finally calling it a day at the dawn of 1988. They reunited for two shows in January of 2011 and one in 2012, but as of 2016 have yet to resurface.
