Flashback and Relay were born in New Rochelle (Now Rule) and were managed by and signed to Atlantic Records by Damon Dash and his cousin Darien through Clark Kent when he was an A & R at East West/Atlantic Records. They first released the single "Lady What's A Bro To Do"? in 1991 and then the album in 1992, an interesting piece of information is that TFS actually dissed Brand Nubian on the track "Star Struck" and Brand Nubian replied with "Punks Jump Up To Get Beat Down"
