The Holidaymakers were a soul band from Wellington. They released their first single, ‘Sweet Lovers’, on the Pagan label in 1988. It spent six weeks at number one, and they went on to win seven awards (including Single of the Year and Most Promising Group) at the 1988 NZ Music Awards. After next single ‘Waiting in the Sunshine’ failed to emulate the success of ‘Sweet Lovers’, the group disbanded.
