The Kol Israel Symphony Orchestra (a/k/a The Kol Israel Orchestra or the Israel Radio Orchestra) was the in house orchestra of Israel's public radio service from 1948 until the 1970s. It was formed as The Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra in 1939 when the Palestine Broadcast Service Orchestra was expanded into a larger ensemble. After Israel's independence it was renamed and became the Kol Israel Orchestra. During the 1970s as the orchestra expanded again it was renamed to The Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Israel Broadcast Authority.
