US vocal group from Raleigh, NC (relocated to New York, NY in 1950). Previously known -chronologically- as The Selah Jubilee Singers on Jubilee, "The Jubilators" on Regal, The Four Barons on Savoy Records/Regent, The Southern Harmonaires & The 5 Larks on Apollo Records (2)(!). Members: Gene Mumford (tenor), Raymond "Pee Wee" Barnes (tenor), Alden "Allen" Bunn (baritone), Hadie Rowe (baritone), Thermon Ruth (baritone) and David McNeil (bass). Active on Apollo Records (2) until 1952/53. After the group split, Gene Mumford formed a new group in 1953. Members: Gene Mumford, Gates Orville Brooks (baritone), Glenn Burgess (piano), David "Boots" Bowers (bass) and Isaiah Bing (tenor). Active on LLoyds Records/Apollo Records (2) until 1955.
