The Legacy was the last act to be released on the New Leaf Records label. The sextet of Sawtry Village College students recorded "Alone Without Love" and "Question Time" at Gareth Stuart's Croeso Studio in Hilton, Cambridgeshire at the end of 1986. They showed a Squeeze influence with socially aware lyrics and a slightly heavier rock sound. Legacy cassette inlay card The Legacy hadn't built up a following comparable with their predecessors', so a minimum order 500 record pressings would be unviable. Cassingles were becoming trendy then, and there was even an indie distributor who dealt only in cassettes. They also had the advantage of being manufactured as required. Custom-wound cassettes were used. The keyboardist Joel Combes, who would later join Boys'll Be Boys, designed the inlay (pictured). In January 1987 an initial batch of 75 was duplicated and sold before New Leaf's role as the college record label was brought to an end from an unexpected quarter. The bass player's mother objected to teachers supposedly distracting her son from his studies by encouraging his interest in rock music. As she also happened to be a governor of the college her views carried considerable weight. Taken from Andy Clifton's {rip} webpage
