The Lips are a Finnish indie rock band, originating from the small town of Kerava. The band was formed during the summer 2012 and they’ve been noted for their energetic and rhythmic sound, uptempo songs with catchy choruses and punk attitude. The group’s musical style has been compared to new wave/ indie rock bands as The Sounds, The Strokes etc. “Everyone is allowed to categorize our band or music just as they hear it” says guitarist Pete. “We’re basically a rock band with a strong lead vocals, but we also have this urge to find some different ways to create some unexpected hooks to spice our music.” Even though the band is fresh and new, all the members of The Lips have several years of experience in music business. First demos were made during the spring 2011, but it took over a year to find the perfect voice and the star of the band. Aino joined the band in the summer of 2012 and from that day the band has been working hard writing new material. After releasing two singles, "Told you" and "Rhythm's the cure" The Lips toured over 50 shows in Finland and Baltic countries in 2013. In the end of the year The Lips was nominated as a band of the week in Finnish national radio YleX. In early 2014 The Lips released their debut EP - "Vulture". With strong 4 track piece the band toured clubs and festivals in Finland, Sweden and all Baltic countries. With their hard working DIY attitude The Lips was very well noticed in music media and two tracks from Vulture EP found the way to radios in Finland, Sweden, Germany and Baltics. After the release of bands second EP "As we used to believe" and music video The Lips played small tour in Finland. Two years on the road, singles, EP's and music videos turned the band as tight unit and now it's time to start working on the bands very first full length album. Even The Lips is working as a unsigned band at the moment the members of the band are more than confident about the future and looking forward to studio sessions. “We are really for uptempo music and catchy lyrics, but we also love the combination of darkness and light. It’s just like life, drinking and having fun, but there’s always something dark and twisted”, Aino says. “Lyrics come from normal life, stories that everyone experience at some point in life. All those stories already exist, it’s just the way you wanna tell them to people”
