A Girl's choir from Luton, Bedfordshire, England. Performed and made many recordings between 1936 and 1977. Very popular, widely known and received scores of applications for membership anually. Initially each girl had to pay a membership fee of 4 pennies per week. Girls had to be aged between 12 and 23 and had to resign on becoming 23 or getting married. During the existence of the choir they also performed in Denmark, The Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand. Thousands of pounds were raised for charity through their performance and the founder of the choir, Arthur Davies was awarded an M.B.E. for services rendered to music.
