Single UK 1979 on Safari Records label
Pop and Soundtrack
This information take from YouTube: For 14 months 1978-1979, I (Larry Whitehurst) played the leading role in 'The Rocky Horror Show' at the King's Road Theatre in London. Towards the end of my time there, the boss of Safari Records asked me if I could write and perform a song after the style of the show. I did so and he liked it. Subsequently, I recorded the song with the help of Nick Straker and several members of his band, who, that same year, would achieve substantial success in Europe with the song 'Walk in the Park.' Unfortunately, song and singer ('The Man') were a bit too raunchy for the BBC et al. As a consequence, Safari couldn't get it any air play and it was never released, at least, not generally. In the late 1990s, I went looking for 'Hey You (Get Out Of My Bed)' on the Web and discovered it at a site (now defunct, I think - can't find it any more) that ranked tens of thousands of singles in order of merit. The site's creators considered 'Hey You' to be the third worst single of all time! Third worst? That's a bronze, isn't it? I would have been much happier if it had been accorded the ultimate non-accolade. Worst would have been a claim to fame, third worst is just a really awful record. Also on the runout of there is written a few strange sayings. "A Porky Prime Cut" & "Don't put sand in the vas!". Also added an additional video link.
