THE MERCURY TREE is an experimental prog-rock band from Portland, Oregon. It started in 2004 as a solo project of Ben Spees (vocals, guitars, keyboards), and became a full band in 2006 with the addition of James Crutcher (bass), Avery Cooper (guitars), and Mike Byrne (drums). In 2007, THE MERCURY TREE debuted with the self-titled LP and continued with EP's "Eerie" (2009) and "Descent" (2010). In 2011, Ben Spees renewed THE MERCURY TREE with new partners - Alan Johnson (bass) and Connor Reilly (drums) – and produced the second LP-album, “Pterodactyls” which marked a new direction in the band's evolution, towards more complicated, intricate, experimental and progressive rock-music. It was followed up with "Freeze in Phantom Form" LP (2012), "Family Style" EP (2014), and two magnificent LP-albums "Countenance" (2014) and "Permutations" (2016). The current band's line-up features: Ben Spees (vocals, guitars, keyboards), Connor Reilly (drums), and Oliver Campbell (bass).
