Single US 1924 on Edison Records label
Jazz (Dixieland)
Both sides (http://www.edisonphonology.com/51434.htm) were cut on November 8 of 1924 in the Edison Studio from Manhattan's Knickerbocker Building located between the 5th Avenue & the 16th Street (75-79 Fifth Avenue) in New York. The Merry Sparklers is in fact a pseudonym for Nathan Glantz's Orchestra, as the payment cheques from the Edison Cash Books (via Richard Johnson & Bernard Shirley's book "American Dance Bands On Record & Film, 1915-1942" (the expensive but excellent expanded edition from Brian Rust's American Dance Band Discography)), from where the following information will be shown) for the 10 sessions of the Merry Sparklers (from November 28 of 1923 to February 13 of 1925) were made payable to him. The personnel is made up of: Nathan Glantz (as,ss,ts,cl) dir: Hymie Farberman, Julius Berkin (tp), Eph(raim) Hannaford (tb), Max Terr (p,arr), John Cali (bjo), unknown (bb), unknown (d) & Charles (H.) Hart, Arthur Hall (v). Hart sings on "Out Of A Million" (matrix 9837 with take A), while Hall sings on "Have A Little Fun" (matrix 9838 with take B), which both of them were arranged by Max Terr. Of course, Glantz, Hannaford & Farberman cut a similar arrangement on November 14 of 1924 for Pathe (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5siclcNByDA) as sidemen of Max Terr's Orchestra with Ernest Hare providing the vocal refrain. The information of both sides (& the Max Terr version's recording date) is taken from Richard Johnson & Bernard Shirley's book "American Dance Bands On Record & Film, 1915-1942".
