Collaborate With A 1940's Wire Recorder

Single US 2011 on People In A Position To Know label
Rock, Blues, Folk, World and (Lo-Fi, Folk, Indie Rock)

All copies include an insert that reads: 'The Microphones are Phil Elverum and "I Lost My Wind" was recorded on a farm in August of 2007 in Rochester, WA. Golden Boots were Dmitri Manos, Ryan Eggleston, Nathan Sabatino, and James Grip when "Marie" was recorded along with two other songs in a living room in Olympia, WA in July of 2007. Bishop Allen is Justin Rice and Christian Rudder. "Ghost" was recorded in October of 2007 in a basement in Seattle, WA. A church choir that was previously recorded to the wire in the 40's provides the backing vocals. Paleo is David Andrew Streckany and "Jessica's Wedding" was recorded in an Olympia, WA bedroom in September of 2007. It was serendipitously recorded over an audio letter to a couple celebrating their 25th anniversary. All tracks were recorded by Michael Dixon to a 1940's Webster Chicago Wire Recorder. They were audio mastered by Nathan Sabatino at Loveland Studios in Tucson, AZ. This 7" was released as a collaboration between People In A Position To Know Records, Lost Sound Tapes, and alt.vinyl. Each label designed and printed their own covers. There were only 600 records made, and only 200 of each cover. Thank you for your support of these artists and labels!' - From Lost Sound Tapes: "These songs were recorded live to a 1940's Webster Wire Recorder. Wire recorders were originally invented in the late 1800's and recorded sound to a hair-thin strand of stainless steel wire. This was the predecessor to magnetic tape as a recording medium. The wire is extremely fragile and fickle, and the machine itself adds certain audio elements to the recording; pitch shifts, bleed over from previous recordings on the reused wire, a clanking sound from the cylinders turning, tonal colorings and distortions, etc. These elements very much color and contribute to the recordings. Therefore, this record is considered a 'collaboration' between the artists and this antiquated machine." A2 ends in a locked groove. A3 is unlisted and can only be played by placing the needle past the locked groove of A2
