Rock and Pop
In 1964 Mr. Giorgio Gomelsky, born and raised in Locarno (Switzerland), introduced the Yardbirds (Eric Clapton, Chris Deja, Jim McCarty and Paul Samuel Smith) to Locarno with different gigs. This event signed the path of The Night Birds. Their style was obviously inspired by that band, like further others in vogue at the moment. The repertoire goes from Beatles, Yardbirds, Kinks, Rolling Stones, Pretty Things, The Who ,Spencer Davies. In 1965 they turned to professional status, touring in Switzerland, Italy, France, Germany and recorded 4 singles in italian with EMI in Milan for the Italian and Swiss market. In 1969, the Nightbirds made a 40 minutes movie for Swiss Television, “Black Magic Woman”, released on Christmas day. In 1970 the band quit the professional status and proceeded with concerts all around Switzerland.
