Formed at Mt. Roskill Grammar School, Auckland, The Others were signed to Joy Records after producer Alan Jansson saw their homemade video on an unsigned video show. Jansson produced their debut album which was released on Joy, via SonyBMG in late 2007. They have been known variously as The Others, Los Otros and The Others Requiem, the last name being applied to the album to prevent confusion with the alternative bands of the same name.
