Ohio "weird" players the RANCID YAK BUTTER TEA PARTY took off as an experimental / metallic / avantgarde trio in 1999 based upon demo tapes created by Justin MODICA (performance, voices) and his school mate Tyler DERRYBERRY (keyboards, voices). As a chain reaction they've grown up to a versatile rock reformers commune strongly supported by Columbus bassist Scott THOMPSON and a pessimistic percussionist Bill MEHLHORN. Through personnel replacements, they had broken up finally in 2004 with the lineup of Tyler, Scott, Bill, and Chris WILKINS (guitar), Mike KANIA (saxophone) and Brian RUTLEDGE (trumpet), after Justin left the commune for a career in chemical engineering.
