A.k.a. Silence (61)
Originally the backing band for future reggae superstar Jimmy Cliff during 1967.. Verden Allen, the keyboard player convinced first Mick Ralphs, and then Dale Griffin to move from Doc Thomas Group and join the Shakedown Sound . When their contract with Jimmy Cliff ended, the band merged with the remaining members of Doc Thomas Group (Pete Watts, and Stan Tippins) and continued performing as The Shakedown Sound. This version of the band toured Italy as Doc Thomas Group, teturned to England, recorded demos with Kinglesy and Charles Ward in the fall of 1968. They then changed their name to Silence, hooked up with Guy Stevens, who changed their name to Mott The Hoople
