The Sheiks

The Sheiks were a Canadian R&B act of the mid '60s, formed by Jamaican immigrants including guitarist and songwriter Rupert Bent, and the house band at Toronto's Club Jamaica. When their popularity as a live unit began to decline, they enlisted new singer Earle "Mighty Pope" Heedram, who appeared on their only record, 1967's "Eternal Love" 45 on Raymond Records. The label folded shortly after its release and the band followed. Now extremely rare, the single was immortalised on Light In The Attic's excellent 2006 compilation "Jamaica To Toronto".
