Single US 1958 on Chevron Records label
Rock and R&B/Soul (Doo-Wop)
Short-lived Los Angeles-area vocal group featuring Vernon Garrett (Vernon & Jewel etc.), that apparently imploded when Billy Ward approached lead singer Joe Gordon to join The Dominoes. A-side "There's a Great Big Moon Tonight" is R&B-flavored uptempo Doo Wop number; B-side "Love Is Like a Mountain" is Doo Wop ballad. (The Sliders are apparently the same group that appear with Byron "Slick" Gipson on Specialty 566 and 587.) Chevron Records sleeve features late 1950s beatnik-era caricatures.
