The Solid Energy Crew is a modscene (tracker scene) music group that was founded in August 1996. TSEC had three members: Andreas Viklund, Björn Karlsson and John Johansson, all living in the small town of Porjus in northern Sweden. The band released its first tracker song ("Feelings") on the internet in January 1997. It was followed by a second song called "Dreams" in March the same year, and "Dreams" became the first hit track for the band. In the beginning, the TSEC songs were released on a large music site called The Modarchive, and after only a couple of months "Dreams" was one of the most popular songs on the site. When the official TSEC website was launched in April 1997, the popularity of "Dreams" had made a lot of people curious about the band, which resulted in a lot of visitors on the site. TSEC released its first MP3 song, called "Electronic Dreams", on October 27th 1997 - making TSEC one of the first artists in Sweden to use the MP3 format to distribute music for free on the web. In early 1998, their first album was released. It was named "Dreams" after their first online hit from 1996, and it was completely home-brew and released by the bands own label. The money from the album sales helped the band build a real studio, and in October 1998 the band started using hardware synthesizers and MIDI equipment instead of tracker software. In the beginning of 1999, TSEC left the modscene and started building an own MIDI hardware studio. In order to get a fresh start, TSEC was reformed into a new project with a new name: Lagoona.
