A.k.a. THE SOUND ASLEEP
THE SOUND ASLEEP were a late 1980s Psych/No Wave Guitar group who were part of the UK Paisley Underground music scene. They released their debut single ‘I’m Cold Outside’ on Vinyl Solution Records produced by ex-Only Ones’ guitar legend John Perry to much underground critical acclaim; receiving ‘Single of the Week’ in the now defunct Sounds music magazine. They gigged around the U.K playing with the likes of The Spacemen 3, The Prisoners, Died Pretty, The Lime Spiders, The Primitives and many other luminaries from the then ‘Paisley Underground’. In 1988 they released the single ‘Loves Great Out Doors’ on Nick Jones’ Karbon records and in 1990 ‘Exhileration Dive’ on the Vinyl Solution off-shoot Resivu records. Both were produced by the then King Blank axeman, later to become Bush guitarist Nigel Pulseford. In 1989 they also recorded the track ‘Explosive Mouth’ for the Marc Bolan tribute album ‘An Exalted Companion…’ released on Barracuda Blue records. The band split in 1990.
