The Starries

Band, IE
Rock, Pop and Alternative

Indie-Rock band formed in Summer of 1997 by Richard Burke (Guitar/Vocals), Steven Kelly (Drums) and Paul Shipley (Bass). Geordie Blake (Guitar/Vocals) joined the band in time to embark on a tour of the UK and Ireland with Idlewild and record 'Feature 85' for inclusion on Fierce Panda compilation 'Cutting Hedge', which the NME stated was the standout track therein. Steven Kelly departed around the turn of the millennium and was replaced by Greg Ikin. Further recording sessions were made but the band split around Christmas 2002 and these did not see the light of day until the posthumous 'Our Darkest Hours' compiled all their recordings of a reasonable quality. Extensive further demo tracks are still available through the band via their Facebook page. The band resurfaced on 13th November 2011, albeit with stand-in drummer Matt Hill, at the request of Alexei Berrow of Johnny Foreigner to play at the launch of their 4th album. When original sticksman Steven Kelly rejoined the fold in 2012 The four members returned to the studio and have recorded with Dom James of Sunset Cinema Club to return with a bigger, far more aggressive incarnation of the band.
