Single US 1959 on Gaity label
Rock (Rock’n’Roll, Rockabilly)
Original release from 1959, recorded on April 1st in David Hersk' studio in Minneapolis (DSH in the dead wax are the initials of David S. Hersk). 1000 records were pressed. "The Bash" is the instrumental which The String Kings played often on stage in a club called "Bashland" in St. Paul. After recording both songs in the Gaity studio and distributing the 45 "The Bash" would become popular in an arrangement by Henri Mancini and was renamed "Peter Gunn". To this day a lot of (more or less well known) bands have played the "Peter Gunn" theme on stage not knowing that this theme is actually derived from "The Bash".
