Founding members Matt Docter and Jason Docter are originally from St. Louis, Missouri, but formed the band while attending university in Illinois in the mid-1980s. The Docter brothers later formed a band Docter in Los Angeles. Brian Krumm and Brian Hunt later formed The Great Crusades in Chicago.
