The Surfmen were a collection of well known west coast jazz musicians assembled by David L. Miller, the owner of the Somerset label. Charged with imitating the popular Exotica sound of albums by Martin Denny and Arthur Lyman, The Surfmen recorded two albums for Miller in the early sixties, who issued them and reissued them under various names.
