Jazz, Folk and World
The Swing Shoes were formed in Athens in 2006. Initially a street guitar duo, they gradually evolved into a four piece, adding bass and drums. More often then not they perform with a fifth member on harmonica. Their music follows the rules of the swing folk idiom, expanded by covers of traditional Greek tunes, jazz standards, and several off-the-cuff numbers. Their first album contained one song featuring Sugahspank!, marking the beginning of a long-term collaboration that continues to this day. They appear regularly in many clubs in Athens and have played many festivals all over Greece. In 2012 they performed in front of 8000 people at the Athens Concert Hall Gardens. In 2013 they appeared for the first time in Germany (Munich's Kulturfestival) and Cyprus. Their music nowadays has a lot of blues and gospel influences.
