The Turbine! (The Bridge #3) is a French-American avant-jazz quartet, a member ensemble of The Bridge, a transatlantic collaborative network for an exchange, production, and diffusion of jazz and improvised music. The band features two bassists Harrison Bankhead (US) and Benjamin Duboc (FR) with two drummers, Hamid Drake (US) and Ramon Lopez (FR). Every year, The Bridge organizes four travels for musicians – from France to the USA, and in the opposite direction. For each travel, a new original ensemble is formed out of the pool of nearly 70 musicians from both countries. The Bridge also collaborates with local artists and concert promoters. In 2014, The Turbine! became a third ensemble to be formed as part of The Bridge. They gave a successful exploratory tour across France in February, which is documented on the group's debut 2xCD album Entropy/Enthalpy, released by a French label Rogueart. Next year, the ensemble 'crossed The Bridge' for the second time, with an exploratory tour across Chicago, Detroit, Ann Arbor, Pittsburgh, New York, and Philadelphia in November 2015. Throughout their French and American exploratory tours, The Turbine! had been collaborating with many notable musicians, such as Jean-Luc Cappozzo, Lionel Garcin, William Parker, Rob Mazurek, Dave Rempis, Jason Stein, Ernest "Khabeer" Dawkins, Nick Mazzarella, Cameron Pfiffner, Douglas Ewart, Edward Wilkerson, Jim Baker, Steve Swell, Jason Adasiewicz, and Marshall Allen.
