German DJ and producer, co-founder of legendary minimal techno label Perlon. His main recording alias is Zip. Thomas started playing electronic-related music in the late 80's, as a member of the EBM band Bigod 20 (with Markus Nikolai and Talla). At this time he first encountered minimal techno – label manager at Sire handed them a stack of promos to distribute on the US-tour, and one of them was BFORD 9. This record dramatically influenced Franzmann, to the point that he stopped being a singer at the band and focused on electronic productions.
