A.k.a. Thorkild Borg Knudsen
Danish pianist, classical composer, folk music researcer, and ethnomusicologist (1925-2007). From 1957 employed at the Danish Folklore Archives in Copenhagen and as a consultant in DR where he organised the first larger collection of Danish traditional music since the early nineteen-hundreds. From the early 1960s he and his wife Anelise Knudsen started to introduce young musicians like Cæsar, Povl Dissing and Hans Jørgen Christensen, to the music of traditional musicians and singers, especially the fiddler Evald Thomsen and the singer Ingeborg Munch. In 1971 he and Anelise established Folkemusikhuset in Hogager, Jutland, which became a major force in the 1970's Danish folk revival.
