A.k.a. Thornton Waldo Burgess
American conservationist and author (1874-1965), wrote over 100 books, most of them for children, and a daily syndicated newspaper column called "Bedtime Stories" from 1912-1960. He also had his own radio show, "Radio Nature League," starting in 1925, and made records, including for Columbia.
