A.k.a. Helgi Þórsson

Helgi Þórsson (b.1975) is a visual and sound artist from Reykjavík, co-founder of experimental band Stilluppsteypa, member of the Icelandic electronic supergroup Evil Madness and half of the Alien UFO duo with Runar Magnusson. Helgi has performed his music in Iceland, Poland, Sweden, Holland, Germany, Spain, Belgium and USA. Thórsson studied sonology with Björgúlfsson and Sigmarsson at The Royal Conservatory of The Hague at Netherlands, and later he received his BFA from Rietveld Academy in 2002 and MFA from Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam in 2004. In addition to holding over 7 solo art exhibitions, he is a recipient of multiple awards: scholarship fund of the Berlage, Gerrit Rietveld Prize winner, AIAS Competition winner in Seoul, a nomination KunstRAI Prize in 2003.
