Band, *1989 US
Rock
Formed: 1989 in Kalamazoo, Michigan USA. Disbanded circa 2001/2. From 1983-1988 the band was known by the name Desacrator [sic] and released a demo "111MZD" in 1988. Initially a avant-garde thrash metal / progressive rock hybrid, Thought Industry began stripping down their sound by the time of 1996's Outer Space Is Just A Martini Away; moving into alternative and art rock by the time they recorded their fourth album Black Umbrella in 1997. They remained active as of 2001 but disbanded shortly after the release of the album Short Wave On A Cold Day. Vocalist, bass guitarist and chief songwriter Brent Oberlin was last involved with the band Cosmonaut (5) as of 2002.
