Alternative
Three was formed in 1986. Originally, Geoff Turner and Steve Niles (both formerly of Gray Matter (2)) got together with Ian MacKaye and Jeff Nelson (both formerly of Minor Threat) to try and make something out of MacKaye and Nelson's Egg Hunt project. The project failed to take off, but Nelson, Turner, and Niles opted to try something else together. Soon, Mark Haggerty (also formerly of Gray Matter) came aboard and the new band was formed. The group recorded a demo and played a few shows but disbanded prior to the release of their only album, "Dark Days Coming". The group played their last show on New Years Day, 1988. The name Three allegedly came about after Jeff Nelson was asked how many people were in his new band and forgot to count himself.
