Musician of Rock
When drummer Torsten and guitarist Christian crossed paths again in 1998 after a few years of not seeing each other, the two Eastgermans decided to found a band of their own. Both musicians had played in various bands before. After the usual line-up changes in the beginning the first original compositions followed in 2000, the band's name Thrudvangar cristallized and first live performances took place. In 2002 the ambitious group released their first self-distributed CD featuring five original compostions. After diligent touring the debut album „Ahnenthron” came out two years later, many good reviews from Metal press and underground alike were the reactions to this dauntless Viking Metal manifesto. More line-up changes followed: Early 2005 a long-time friend of the horde, vocalist Matze, joined the fold, quickly establishing himself onstage. The Thrudvangar team, now finally stabilized, performed bigger shows such as the Ragnarök Festivals 2005 and 2006, the Ultima Ratio Festival 2005 and 2006 as well as the “close to nature”Rock For Roots Fest in 2005. In late 2005 the band commenced the production of their second studio effort and a record deal with Einheit Produktionen lets the glowing pagan hearts beat stronger. The extremely well-received performance on the cult Pagan Nights Festival was only a forerunner to the second longplayer “Walhall”, due out August 11 th. Thrudvangar plan to substantiate their status with more club shows and festival performances like the Viking Scream Festival in Bochum. The re-release of „Ahnenthron“, re-mastered with added bonus tracks, through Einheit Produktionen will take place at Julfest 2006. An extended tour of Europe is in the planning stages.
