Stephanie Sejour, known as Tifane, is a new female icon of Haitian and world beat music. As one of the most influential writers and composers of her generation, her contributions in music are known world-wide. Some of her musical influences include Jill Scott, Emeline Michel, Terry Moise and India Arie while Yole Derose serves as a role model for Tifane. Tifane’s innate love of music came from growing up in a family where music was an integral part of their lives. Returning to Haiti after receiving a BA Sociology degree from North Central College in Illinois and working briefly for the UN’s Human Rights Department, she launched her singing career and now her music entertains, inspires and influences listeners around the world.
