Somewhere in the musical ether that connects all genres you'll find Tigermoth floating through and feeding off a variety of eras and sounds. A healthy dose of Miles Davis Electric Jazz, NY Boom Bap, Japanese tech hop, Detroit Hip Hop, Jimi Hendrix psych, traditional world musics, movie soundtracks and the modern LA beats scene, all serve towards making up his musical diet. Born in the Chinese year of the Tiger, Tigermoth's (a.k.a. TiM Paterson) beats are as much a aural journey as they are a head nodding experience. He is a multi instrumentalist who chooses to express himself live through turntables, samplers and FX. His DJ sets are as much intelligent mixing as they are masterly understated abstract turntabilism. His film background and Jazz leanings allow him to compose sets that provide a narrative of sorts. A prolific producer, Tigermoth has multiple solo releases and is high demand for his remix and soundtrack work. He has recorded, performed with and/or supported a vast array of both local and international hip hop artists including DJ Krush, DJ Vadim. Jonwayne, MF DOOM, Guilty Simpson, Phat Kat, Del the Funky Homosapien, Oh No, Kool Keith, EL-P, De La Soul, The Opus, Gaslamp Killer, Cut Chemist, Dizz1 and AOI. After a period of time living in Tokyo Japan, Tigermoth returned to his native Australia to establish himself as one of the countries most respected underground producers. He has gone about his work without fanfare or hype but put simply, those in the know..know. His debut album was received with glowing reviews both in Australia and Japan and his sophomore album is ready for release in the not too distant future. His sound continually evolves and draws influences from a variety of sources yet, it is never derivative. Mysticism, contemporaries, the natural and urban surrounds of everyday life, movies, the art of skateboarding, friends, family and the significance of dreams all continually influence his style. His sound is his own, which essentially defines a true artist. Tigermoth has recorded, performed with and/or supported a vast array of both local and international hip hop artists including Kool Keith, EL-P, De La Soul, Gaslamp Killer, Cut Chemist, Quro, Dave V, Lazy Grey, Muphin and TZU.
