Vocalist and Ukulele player. Associated with Hawaiian music. Regina (Mama Tina) Kaapana was the mother of Ledward and Nedward Kaapana. She cut a single of "Punaluu" in the 1950's. When Hui Ohana, consisting of the Kaapana twins and their cousin, Dennis Pavao, achieved huge popularity in the 1970's, they featured Tina Kaapana on half of the tracks of their third LP, "Ke Kolu." Subsequently, Tina Kaapana recorded two LPs, which remain only in LP format, "Mama" and "Alania," backed instrumentally by Hui Ohana. After the breakup of Hui Ohana, She joined her twin sons and oldest and youngest daughters, Lei Aken and Rhoda Kekona, on the "Portrait of the Kaapanas" LP. Musician and songwriter Keith Haugen produced "The Best of Mama," which featured cuts from the three albums and which won a Na Hoku Hanohano award for best anthology.
