Musician of Rock
Dutch guitar player (born in Amsterdam) who played for/with a lot of international groups and individuals in a wide range of styles Tjarko Jeen Tjarko Jeen knows his way around a Telecaster (and any other guitar for that matter). Born in Amsterdam, Jeen joined his first band at the age of 14. The Tin Stars were a rockabilly group whom he would play with for 15 years. This provided him an opportunity to tour all over Europe. At the age of 16, he began playing off and on with the great Ronnie Dawson. Later in his career, Tjarko would record on three of Ronnie's records including "Monkey Beat" '92, "Just Rockin' and a Rollin'" '96 and "Live at the Continental Club" '98. Although influenced by artists such as Link Wray, Mickey Baker, Scotty Moore, Charlie Christian, Otis Rush and early Jimmy Page, Roy Buchanan and Robbie Robertson, Jeen has definitely developed his own sound. After learning to play guitar by ear by dissecting obscure 50s rock and roll and rockabilly records and doing so impressively, he was often asked to back up artists who toured through Europe. Some of these include Sonny Burgess, Billy Lee Riley, Joe Clay and Rudy Grayzell. Tjarko joined the Exiles in the summer of 2005. Photo by Ron Baker
