Tobias Gruben was born July, 28th 1963 in Athens, Greece. He was raised in Starnberg, Germany. His first group was "4 Kaiserlein" with Christoph Schlingensief, a now famous german film and theatre director, actor and author. Tobias Gruben relocated in Hamburg and started "Cyan Revue" in 1984. "Cyan Revue" released 3 records, went on tour with "Alien Sex Fiend" and in 1987 the band came to an end. After that Tobias Gruben established "Die Erde" with Horst Petersen and others. They recorded the album "Kch Kch Kch" and toured with "Einstürzende Neubauten". Late 1990 "Die Erde" split because of personal and musical differences. In 1991 Tobias Gruben joined Katrin Achinger and Matthias Arfmann of "Kastrierte Philosophen" for their Project "Heroina". The next few year Tobias Gruben mainly worked on his own without releasing songs. In 1994 he met Felix Huber. Together they formed "Sol" and released one 7". Soon "Sol" was renamed to "Die Erde" (also called "Die Erde II"). An album release was planned for 1997, but Tobias Gruben died on November 2nd 1996 from a heroin overdose.
